INTRODUCTION

qbuscoolpicThe Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) and the Army Research Office are pleased to invite you to attend the first in a series of conferences highlighting world advances in coherence in superconducting qubits.

Speakers will describe leading research on a wide range of topics, elucidating:

  • fundamental understanding of defects in superconducting qubits, which currently limit coherence times, readout fidelity and Rabi-contrast;
  • means to characterize, measure and definitively discriminate between separate defects;
  • advanced materials, constructions and fabrication methods to eliminate these defects; and
  • demonstrated qubit coherence from state-of-art experimental systems developments.

OBJECTIVE

splittings1This conference will foster discussion and collaboration among investigators stimulating:

  • A fuller, more accurate understanding of the types of defects limiting coherence in superconducting JJ qubits; including the mechanisms by which they occur, how they are created in fabrication, the mechanisms by which they affect and interact with the qubit, and the qubit performance characteristics they limit (coherence times T1 and T2, Rabi contrast, etc.),
  • Development of advanced methods for definitive characterization and measurement of defects in the presence of other defects;
  • Discovery of new low-defect materials and constructions, and the means for their fabrication;
  • Understanding of ultimate, coherent qubit geometries begged by the physics, and the means for their fabrication.
  • Improvements in electronics and systems enabling high-fidelity qubit control and measurement; and
  • Enhanced scientific vision for the most effective means to substantially extend coherence.

SESSION TALKS

Interested speakers are invited to submit a single page abstract highlighting the significance of their work and accomplishments, and indicating the specific session number of interest per the tentative agenda.

POSTER SESSION

In addition to speaking within one of the designated sessions, researchers are also invited to request space to present a posterto discuss research with participants. A poster session will be held Tuesday evening following the plenary sessions.

ATTENDANCE

Registration is required for all attendees.
